The Excitements are set to headline the Manchester launch party to announce the Soundcrash Funk & Soul Weekender festival. Paying homage to the genre’s forerunners with every hip shaking guitar chord and scorchingly smoky vocal cord, the Barcelona septet’s a blisteringly groovy live show is also able to feel at home in the latest soul revival. They’ll be joined by the smooth funk of The Suffers, whose Gulf Coast soul has turned heads from David Letterman to Newport Folk Festival, and seasoned soul selector DJ Nic Kozubik. The show sets the scene for the second annual Soundcrash festival, which will take place from 12-15 May in Brighton.
