After two recent sell-out shows in the city, Squid return to Manchester on Saturday 2 March 2020, this time playing Salford’s legendary venue, The White Hotel. Formed in Brighton, Squid are an electrifying five-piece outfit whose post-punk, Krautrock-inspired tracks have made them ones-to-watch in the past couple of years, gathering attention with a series of UK tours and acclaimed sets over at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. While nodding to their influences (such as English rock band XTC and Germany’s NEU!), Squid have manage to carve out something new, incorporating synth sounds, infectious bass lines, idiosyncratic vocals from drummer Ollie Judge and winding jams that move in unexpected directions. The White Hotel should prove to be the perfect setting for this chaotic and energetic live act; for a taste, check out their excursive 7-minute groove, The Cleaner, taken from their recent EP, Town Centre.

Sat 2 Mar, 7.30pm, The White Hotel,
