Asian Underground star Talvin Singh comes to Band On The Wall. The producer shot to fame after playing percussion on Björk’s Debut, and winning the Mercury Prize for his own debut album. He brought Indian classical music – and the sound of the Tabla – to the popular mainstream, and has worked with names such as Sun Ra, Terry Riley and Yoko Ono. More recently, the London composer was awarded a South Bank Prize for popular music, and in 2015 was presented with an OBE for Services to Music. Singh still plays internationally, and he comes to Manchester as part of the New North and South network connecting the North of England with South Asia. Support comes from artist and beatboxer Jason Singh.
