For Saint Valentine’s Day, why not try something naughty in an appropriately holy place? For example, a booze up in a place of worship! In mid February, the Gin Society is hosting its annual festival at Manchester Cathedral. Taking place over three days, it will have a bar with British and fruit gins, and another for gins from around the world. A third is the cocktail bar, where you can also find Prosecco, rum, and a selection of bottled ales. The festival operates a voucher system for drinks, but your first G&T is free. Street food and snacks can be purchased separately from a variety of local vendors. There will be tasting sessions and masterclasses from distillers and industry experts. At the shop, you will be able to buy a memento of the festival – assuming you can actually remember any of it. Befitting the venue, it’s likely to be a rather genteel affair, so try your best not to lower the tone.
