Scottish alt-rock legends, The Jesus and Mary Chain, have announced an unmissable show at Manchester’s Albert Hall next spring, performing their classic 1987 album, Darklands, in its entirety. Darklands, their second release after 1985’s Psychocandy, cemented the reputation of the Reid brothers with its melancholic songwriting and stripped-down, drum-machine-backed aesthetic — a bold departure from the gritty, feedback-laced sound of their debut. Featuring landmark tracks such as Happy When It Rains and April Skies, their biggest hit, this is a chance both for seasoned Mary Chain fans to revisit this 80s classic and for a younger generation to discover a milestone that influenced countless shoegaze and alternative acts that followed. Plus, the gothic setting of Manchester’s Albert Hall is the perfect environment to immerse yourself in the strange, compelling, anarchic world of The Jesus and Mary Chain.
