The Lakes International Comic Art Festival returns to Kendal later this year for weekend-long celebration of one of the longest running and most increasingly popular art forms. Taking place between Fri 11 – Sat 13 Oct, this family friendly festival serves up a selection of talks, activities and workshops suitable for all age ranges. In addition, Festival Director Julie Tait promises that this year’s event will boast more creators, more exhibitors and more commissioned work than ever before. Highlights of 2019’s festival include a world-record attempt that will see artists from around the UK try to draw all 150 Viz characters in just 50 minutes in celebration of the comic’s 40th birthday. Attendees will also be able to explore a comic-inspired window trail around Kendal, a exhibition dedicated to The Smurf’s 60th anniversary and The Comics Clocktower Marketplace where they’ll find exhibitors showcasing and selling their work. The festival’s family zone will give kids the chance to try their hand at badge and mask making, before getting their face painted as their favourite heroes and drawing their own comic strip. Weekend passes for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival are available now and give you access to all of its main events, live-drawing classes, talks and masterclasses.

Fri 11 Oct - Sun 13 Oct, Various Locations, £35 (weekend pass)
