Manchester’s favourite club night is making a come back on Saturday 1 April 2017. Hosted by DJ duo Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford (the Unabombers), the Electric Chair club night took place every month at venues such as the Roadhouse and Music Box for more than 12 years with huge names such as Laurent Garnier and Francois K behind the decks. The club closed in 2008 but returns this April to the Refuge’s Basement club. Cowdrey and Crawford have spread their wings following the end of their hugely popular night, moving into the food and drink industry. They now run a number of bars and restaurants including including Didsbury’s Volta, Electrik bar in Chorlton and The Refuge at the Principal. But they’ve not left the club scene behind entirely and continue to run the End of Year Riot parties and the Electric Elephant festival in Croatia. Tickets for the Return of the Electric Chair are on sale now via the link below – so we’re guessing that this is not an elaborate April Fool’s day joke. Other Refuge Basement events lined up include So Flute (Fri 14 Apr) and A Love From Outer Space with Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnson (Sat 15 Apr). Watch this space for more.

Sat 1 Apr, The Basement, The Refuge by Volta, The Principal Hotel, Oxford Road, Manchester, M60 7HA. Tel: 0161 233 5151, 11pm-4am, £10, www.skiddle.com
