A spellbinding sonic experiment will take place at The White Hotel when Tim Hecker will perform in complete darkness. The Canadian experimentalist has built a reputation making glitchy ambient music on the 4AD label, with tour partners including Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sigur Rós. On Monday 22 October, ten days after the Autumn Equinox, Hecker will play a complete set in total blackout at the Salford venue. Doors will be at sundown, at precisely 6.43pm. While the light fades, Hecker will be shadowed by a talented support act: soundtrack composer and Adam Curtis collaborator Thomas Ragsdale will treat the audience to a set of widescreen visual experiments. It’s a gig that could find you truly lost in music.

Mon 2 Oct, The White Hotel, Dickinson Street, Salford M3 7LW. 6.43pm, £15, www.tickets.partyforthepeople.org
