A special performance of The Transports at Manchester’s Dancehouse Theatre is scheduled to resurrect Peter Bellamy’s 1977 imagining of the true tale of a poverty-struck family’s exile to Australia. Bridging the gap between the disciplines of theatre and music, the updated show features a stellar cast of BBC Folk Award winners, including The Young’uns, Faustus, Nancy Kerr, Rachael McShane, Greg Russell and Matthew Crampton, whose varied displays of songwriting dexterity will be complemented by narrator Matthew Crampton’s reflections on migration in the modern world.

Sat 13 Jan, Dancehouse Theatre, 10A Oxford Rd, Manchester, M1 5QA, Tel: 0161 834 1786, 7.30pm, £20-£24, www.bandonthewall.org
