Legendary folk singer Vashti Bunyan will be performing in Salford this October. The gig, at St Philip’s Church, is likely to sell out quickly, so we are giving you advance warning. Bunyan’s career has been a highly unusual one. She released one album, Just Another Diamond Day, in 1970 which was a commercial failure. Disappointed, she retired from music completely. However, when the album was reissued in 2000, a new generation discovered her music, including new folk stars Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. She was tempted back into the industry, and began recording and touring again. This concert is in support of her new album Heartleap, only her third proper album in a career that began over 40 years ago. Heartleap is set to be Vashti’s most personal musical statement yet.
