A tense new psychological thriller rooted in the north west, Katy Dixon’s debut novel Enough brings a sharp-edged story of obsession, secrecy and long-buried trauma to the streets of Manchester.

Released on 28 Jan and published by Troubador, Enough follows the ostensibly successful business consultant Dan Fox, whose professional life is thriving while his personal world quietly unravels. A bitter break-up from his girlfriend Emma has left scars, and now he’s beset by a series of inexplicable disturbances, from late night phone calls and tampered newspapers to unnervingly familiar notes from somebody who knows him intimately.

While initial suspicion naturally falls on Emma, the truth is far murkier. Emma herself is being harassed, and as the threats escalate, it becomes clear that she is hiding far more than Dan ever realised – not just her real career, but a dark past she won’t, or can’t, even share with the Manchester detective tasked with investigating the case.

As Dan and Detective Sergeant Peter Tait dig deeper, the novel shifts from a simple mystery into something more unsettling, asking not just who is responsible, but why.

Dixon describes Enough as a “whatdunnit” and “whydunnit” rather than a traditional whodunnit, with clues scattered in plain sight for the reader to piece together in a slow-burn psychological puzzle layered with misdirection, moral ambiguity and ‘a rattling good twist or three’, set against an unmistakable north west backdrop.

Born and raised in Liverpool, Dixon studied history at Cambridge before returning home to build a long career in financial services. Writing fiction alongside full-time work, Enough draws on her love of storytelling and her passion for northern England, as well as more personal experiences. The novel touches on the lasting impact of growing up with an alcoholic parent, handled with empathy and restraint, and offers moments of reflection alongside gripping suspense.
