The Canadian author of The Handmaid’s Tale, the MaddAddam trilogy, Alias Grace and many more is appearing at Manchester’s Royal Exchange theatre this September as part of Manchester Literature Festival 2015. With a strong eco bent to her most recent work, expect controversial opinions – and potentially world-transforming ideas – from this Booker Prize winner. The author lives in Toronto and she’s been at the top of her game since 1968 when she published The Edible Woman. This event sees Atwood talking about her latest novel The Heart Goes Last. Exploring another potential dystopia, this is a satire where law-abiding citizens are contained and those with no moral compass run free. Atwood will be in conversation with author and critic Erica Wagner.
