Nigerian political poet and musician Femi Kuti makes another appearance in Manchester this June on a latest European tour. Eldest son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Femi’s live show nourishes the soul and body, causing serious dance floor grooves whilst engaging minds. Hot on the heels of releasing his seventh studio album ‘One People One World’, the “Prince of Afrobeat” visits Manchester with his supremely talented band The Positive Force in tow. Starting his musical career in his father’s band Egypt 80, Femi counts the sax, trumpet and keyboards among his instrumental arsenal, and the Kuti family tradition still burns strong with the recent addition of Femi’s son Made on alto saxophone. His appearance on Swan Street comes ahead of a summer of festival performances including Budapest’s Kolorado Festival and Valencia’s Iboga Summer Festival. Support comes from local favourites, the Me Gusta! DJs.
