Midlands-born Rastafarian vinylphile Macka B is the special guest DJ for August’s edition of Friday Night Reggae. By selecting 45s from his formidably expansive collection of reggae classics, curios and dance floor fillers, Macka B’s appearance at Band on the Wall continues his contribution to British reggae by staying true to its roots and sharing the genre’s spiritual and social messages. His DJ set at the popular club night marks 30 years since his seminal record, Sign of the Times, released via Ariwa, and the Play A 45 format is the perfect stage for the vibes on his 2015 ode to vinyl, Never Played A 45.
