Electronic pop star Grimes returns with a new tour that stops off at Manchester Academy. Known to her mum as Claire Boucher, the Canadian producer is both artist and musician, responsible for some of 2012’s most thrilling hits. Songs like Infinite Love without Fulfilment, Oblivion and Be a Body from her third album, Visions, changed the game as far as electronic pop music was concerned and paved the way for a new era of solo electronic music stars, for whom performance was a key part of the show, such as FKA Twigs. Part performance artist, part pop-star, she’s a singular talent live, coming in somewhere between the artistic showmanship of Bjork and the club-literacy of Jamie XX. This Manchester Academy date from her Acid Reign tour will be one of the first chances for UK fans to take in her new material from her as yet untitled new album, due out sometimes this month. Tickets go on sale on Friday (9 Oct 2015) at 9am through See Tickets and Wednesday through Dice.
