Band On The Wall are teaming up with Royal Exchange Theatre to present a special series of concerts this Autumn and Winter. The line-up sees a host of eclectic artists take to the intimate confines of the theatre on St Ann’s Square, playing one-off shows ranging from raw Americana to psychedelic electronica. The series kicks off in September with another visit from Brooklyn trio The Lone Bellow, fresh from a sold out date at Band on the Wall earlier in the year. They’ll be followed by “Dublin folk miscreants” Lankum, a traditional folk four-piece with a dark, experimental twist. Moving into October, cosmic songstress Jane Weaver returns to Manchester with her first solo tour in five years, promising an evening of atmospheric audio/visual performances. Looking towards December, electronic composer and DJ James Holden drops in with a set of self-described “folk-trance”, playing material from his latest LP ‘The Animal Spirits’. December also sees a visit from US alt-rock stalwarts Mercury Rev, performing their 1998 masterpiece ‘Deserter’s Songs’, now considered a classic by fans and critics alike. Things come to a close with a visit from local quartet The Slow Show, playing their first hometown show in over a year and set to unveil new material on the night.
