The Maids invites you into a twisted world of sadistic role play, ritualistic games and rubber gloves. Jean Genet’s deliciously dark play promises to be mysterious, murderous and utterly engrossing in this new retelling, directed by Lily Sykes and performed at the wonderful HOME theatre. A gruesome game of make believe teeters dangerously on the boundary between fantasy and reality, as murderous siblings Clare and Solange playfully plot their mistresses demise. Whilst this starts as harmless pretending, it soon becomes clear their intentions are more sinister as they inch closer to committing actual murder. To add to this thrilling theatrical experience, HOME has ripped out its current seating and transformed the space into an in-the-round auditorium. Now audiences can feel fully immersed in all this murderous fun. There will be chance to watch from either on or off the stage, so you can feel right in the middle of the action, if you dare.
