A favourite in Manchester’s independent music calendar, inner-city indie festival Sounds From The Other City returns for the 15th time at the start of May, with a full line-up now announced. This year’s event sees 15 of the North West’s finest independent promotors teaming up, once again, to showcase the best in music, art and performance. On the bill this year, attendees can look forward to sets from South London outfit Black Midi, Halifax favourites The Orielles, punk cohort Cocaine Piss, local lads Ménage à Trois, raucous post-punks ILL, hip hop/jazz artist Barney Artist and Factory Floor co-founder Gabe Gurnsey. Also on the bill, the BBC Philharmonic will collaborate with spoken word arts organisation Young Identity, combining dynamic poetry with soaring orchestral arrangements. Other names include Avalanche Party, Black Futures, Grotbags, Remover, Rose Mercie, See Thru Hands, Spectres, Withered Hand, Working Mens Club and many more. With shows presented across five stages on the day, the festival’s format is slightly smaller this year, confined to the Regent Road Trading Estate. Only 1500 tickets are available for this year’s get-together – so we recommend booking soon if you’d like to join the party.
