While his debut album only hit the shelves last year, Leytonstone-born Murkage Dave has been a hugely influential name on Manchester’s music scene over the past decade. Released October 2018, Murkage Dave Changed My Life sees the singer take on his native East London’s changing landscape and gentrification, coming together as a collection of twelve self-described “folk songs for the culture”, written and recorded across London, Paris and Berlin. Originally finding fans as a club promoter in Manchester with arts and music collective the Murkage Cartel, Dave knows what it takes to put on a good show. As a singer and producer, Dave’s sound encompasses 90’s garage and R&B, alongside the likes of The Smiths and Joy Division. He has previously collaborated with the likes of Jaykae, Skepta and French producer Hologram, along with evergreen Streets frontman Mike Skinner, who he joined on tour earlier this year across the UK and Europe, including three nights in Manchester at the O2 Apollo. Returning to the city on his Keep Up The Bad Work tour, Dave takes over Gorilla on 10 Oct.
