Ethereal house music star Pantha du Prince makes a rare visit to Manchester in October. The German musician isn’t easily categorised: his electro-acoustic dance music is indebted to indie and shoegaze as much as techno. So while he was an early name on the notable Berlin dance label Dial, he also invited members of Animal Collective and LCD Soundsystem onto his influential 2010 Rough Trade album ‘Black Noise’. His remix credits include Depeche Mode, Bloc Party and The Long Blondes. The pseudonym Pantha du Prince came to Hendrik Weber in a dream, and he used to live in the same woods in which the Brothers Grimm set their fairy tales – these curious facts may explain the bewitching vibe of his house music.
