With over 1.2 billion views, it’s statistically quite likely that you’ve watched at least one TED Talk on YouTube. If so, you might want to attend Manchester’s very own TED conference, which is coming to the Bridgewater Hall in February. Called a TEDx event, it’s in the spirit of the big conferences in America (“ideas worth spreading”), but at a local level. One of the more marque speakers has just been announced in Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams who will be discussing her young artists social app ‘Daisie’. An actor and tech entrepreneur at the age of 21, Williams might be the headline name at the event but there are plenty of other speakers to enjoy on the day (see the full list below). There will be discussions of technology, entertainment, design (hence the title), but also education, science, and creativity. The last Manchester event was a hit, with over 2300 people attending. The talks given are available to view on the website below. Register at the link below for tickets.

Sun 3 Feb 2019, The Bridgewater Hall, Lower Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3WS, Tel: 0161 907 9000, 10.30am to 5pm, www.tedxmanchester.com
