Following a successful first outing at Edinburgh Fringe last summer, new theatre production The Conditioning returns to the stage for two nights at Levenshulme’s new performance venue, art gallery and beerhouse The Talleyrand. The story follows young soldier Jim, as he finds himself locked in a pitch-black warehouse, unable to remember how he got there. The space is empty but for the presence of a stranger by the name of Spyro. Cracks begin to show as their story unfolds, leaving them and the audience with a number of questions to answer. Performed by Jack Lloyd and Cal Jones, the production has been given praise from The Skinny as “an intense and intriguing production, tackling intimacy, trust, anxiety and guilt”. Opening in September 2018, The Talleyrand is situated next-door to Trove on Stockport Road, and has already been busy hosting a number of events from silent discos to art exhibitions. Named after a former title given to East Levenshulme, nodding to French bishop and politician Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand, the venue offers a number of wines, beers and coffees.
