Thor & Friends are to tour their percussion-led debut album around the UK this spring, calling at Manchester’s Deaf Institute on Sunday 30 April. It’s a first experience for Thor as bandleader, having most recently held the drumsticks with Swans, as well as recording with Devendra Banhart, Bill Callaghan and Shearwater. His eponymous debut, produced alongside a rotating cast of fellow Texan musicians, fits into the experimental end of alt rock, while building a communal and improvisational feel to the band unit. Joined by xylophones, marimba and vibraphone, their live show has the hallmarks of minimalist contemporary classical, almost Philip Glass-esque in its ability to enrapture audiences even in near-stillness.

This event has been cancelled. Thor & Friends will now appear at Sounds from the Other City.
