Folk duo A Different Thread visit Manchester this summer as part of our three month UK tour, fresh from playing six months of live shows across Latin America and Ireland. Playing cosy Chorlton hideout Dulcimer on 7 June, the Transatlantic pair visit supporting their 2018 LP ‘On A Whim’, recorded across just 10 days in a North Carolina studio. Originally meeting in Galway where they were both busking, the band is a collaboration between songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Robert Jackson from Lichfield, England, and Alicia Best from Durham, North Carolina. Taking inspiration from historical traditions of transatlantic folk, their self-described ‘British Americana’ has won over fans for strong and emotive storytelling and excellent musicianship. Joining them for four-dates across the North, support for the show comes from Sheffield-based Banjo Jen, finger-picking extraordinaire who incorporates traditional Appalachian step-dancing into her set.
