Charlie Rowell and Brandon Welchez are Crocodiles; a US duo championing a new wave of noisey, indie pop at its punk finest. The pair have just seen off the release of seventh album Love Is Here (The End Is Near), supporting the record with a string of dates across Europe, including an evening at Soup Kitchen on 17 May. Hailing from San Diego, the band formed in 2008, and a debut LP would come just a year later in the shape of Summer of Hate, dubbed a “art-punk renaissance” by Rolling Stone magazine. Taking to the stage as a five-piece, the band’s live presence is a sonic cocktail of fuzzy echoes, lo-fi indie, grunge and 80s college rock. Support comes from local shoegaze outfit URF along with indie five-piece Mt. Fuji.
