Spring will soon be here, and with it will come a lot more cool things to do outdoors. One such event, taking place on Saturday 23 May, combines exercise with culture. Art on the Run is a 5km dash in the newly-regenerated Livia Forest in Prestwich. This is a quirky, family-friendly affair, where entrants can run, jog, walk, or limp their way around the course whilst admiring large-scale sculptures along the way. Look out for eccentric warm ups before the off, and for foot-stomping musicians who will serenade you at the finish line. The run is co-organised by the social enterprise Wild Rumpus, who specialise in outdoor arts events, including the Just So Festival. You will need to book in advance, and a limited number of tickets are now on sale. Livia can easily be reached via junction 17 of the M60, or by the 97 and 98 buses. Prestwich Rail/Metrolink station is less than a mile away.
