Enjoy a tipple in the Tudor majesty of Salford’s Ordsall Hall as Manchester’s only distillery invites you to an enjoyable evening of gin tasting. Experts from Zymurgorium will take your taste buds on a sensational journey as you experience a range of locally-produced gins. This evening will be a chance to learn more about the skill of gin-making amid the 500-year old Great Hall at the former stately home in Salford. Zymurgorium are also the UK’s first commercial craft meadery and produce everything from cider to vodka – but it’s the juniper joy of gin being celebrated at this event. They brought a mixologist’s attitude to their Manchester Gin, which is available in some fine flavours including sloe, marmalade, rum and raspberry. When you drink the gin, made with a special still called a ‘Waggle Dancer’, look out for the base flavour of honey. This is a flavoursome tribute to Manchester’s buzzing motif. The tasting event will be led by Zymurgorium founder Aaron Darke who began a life of beverages when he brewed for friends at university. Make some new friends yourself on May 18: tickets cost £25 per person.
