Brand-new festival Get In! To Eccles launches this March

Salford City Council and From The Other have unveiled plans for Get In! To Eccles, a brand-new festival landing in the town centre this spring.

Taking place Sat 28 Mar – Sun 29 Mar, streets and venues across Eccles will come alive with performances, installations and unexpected moments.

The festival will feature playful new installations and interactive works by Lowri Evans at Eccles Train Station, inspired by its passengers and volunteers, as well as 6 Music Festival and FaT OuT present Lauren Auder, Naima Bock & R.AGGS at Eccles Town Hall Ballroom.

Eccles Community Chess Club, the only dedicated high-street chess venue in the North West, also hosts a full-blown Tandem Chess Simul, giving the public the rare chance to challenge UK Grandmaster Danny Gormally and resident Candidate Master Mike Surtees as they take on multiple games at once.”

Audiences can also expect live music in local venues, an artisan market, interactive installations, family-friendly performances, tonnes of activities, and plenty of chances to get stuck in and join the action, with more events, venues and surprises still to drop.

While the festival itself sits at the heart of it all, organisers want the event to shine a light on Eccles’ independent businesses, venues and cultural life, celebrating the town and the community that makes it tick.

Designed to be welcoming and easy to dip in and out of, most of the weekend’s events will be completely free. 6 Music Festival and FaT OuT present Lauren Auder, Naima Bock & R.AGGS at Eccles Town Hall Ballroom will be ticketed, with discounted rates for Eccles residents. The festival is being delivered by From the Other, Salford City Council and Muse, the strategic regeneration partner for Eccles Town Centre.<

We know people want a town centre that feels welcoming and vibrant, with more reasons to visit, spend time and connect with others, and this festival has been developed with those ambitions in mind, bringing activity and creativity right into the heart of Eccles.

The festival comes at a time when work is underway to support the long term regeneration of Eccles town centre, and it offers families, friends and visitors a great opportunity to come together and play a part in shaping the town’s future.”
