Last year, three theatre makers from Brazil and the UK spent a month living along the Bridgewater Canal, getting to know the waterway and the people who use it. During this time, they came up with the idea for a free arts event. So, the trio collaborated with 30 community groups and hundreds of volunteers to create a Brazilian festival with a Salfordian feel. Titled Precarious Carnaval, it will take place this weekend along a five-mile stretch of the Canal. It’s all set to feature site-specific theatre, sculptures, installations, and street parties. It begins on Friday evening, with a floating procession which folks can sit out and watch go by at sunset. On Saturday, there will be a series of walks from Boothstown Marina to Worsley’s Humpback Bridge, which will have many surprises along the way. The grand finale consists of performance walks from Patricroft to the Lighthouse in Monton. See the link below for details of times and locations.
