As part of a series of screenings over the Christmas season, Whitworth Art Gallery will be showing Breakfast at Tiffany’s (151 mins), Edwards Blake’s iconic adaptation of Truman Capote’s novella. The film screening coincides with the ongoing exhibition Hockney to Hogarth, which features Hockney’s A Rake’s Progress, as well as other works from the period 1960-1962. The showing invites you to examine and interpret Hockney’s work from this time and contrast it with the high society of New York in this era; how did the artist feel and articulate the culture and society of New York on his first visit in 1960? The screening begins at 6.15pm, but make sure to arrive earlier for a glass of red wine.
