Bury’s globally recognised Text Festival returns for its fourth year in May, featuring the launch of a new Sculpture Centre. Situated adjacent to Bury Art Museum, the centre features restored parquet floors and Victorian architectural features and has been designed for locals and visitors to enjoy the best in international art – beginning with a new presentation of work by internationally renowned artist, Lawrence Weiner. The festival, which celebrates contemporary language art, will take place from May to July, welcoming over sixty international artists to the town. Highlights include: the return of poets Ron Silliman and Caroline Bergvall; an ongoing performance piece from community and writing project, Drawing Shed; an exhibition of European and Chinese contemporary sculpture curated by David Thorp, and live and sound artists from all over the world.
