Billed as a ‘simple but inspired’ production, Buxton International Festival presents a warm, loving iteration of the classic fairytale Cinderella in a performance of Pauline Viardot’s three-act miniature chamber operetta on Fri 3- Sat 4 Feb at The Lowry.

Directed by Laura Attridge and designed by Anna Orton, Cinderella features seven singers and a pianist delivering ‘a score where sumptuous melodies abound, vocal lines soar, and the Cinderella tale is told with a smile’ across seventy minutes of stunning family entertainment. Promising the ideal introduction to opera for teenagers and young adults, the operetta is sung in French with subtitles while the dialogue is in English, offering an accessible, captivating taste of the classical form.

The production was mounted for the first time at Buxton International Festival 2021, playing to the first of many sell-out audiences.
