The Green Quarter could be getting its own large-scale festival on Saturday 2 May, with promoters Shebeen and GRUB, and local brewery Blackjack clubbing together to make the event happen. The trio, who are all involved in this week’s sold-out Winter Beer Fest, are launching a Kickstarter campaign today (Fri 30 Jan) to source funding for the event, which will incorporate several independent business and be centred around Keystone, a proposed new venue in the Green Quarter. The flexible event space, in one of the area’s many railway arches, will be joined by a number of established Green Quarter venues and other pop-up spaces if the pledge campaign is successful. Besides hosting the one-day event – named Shebeen Festival 2015 – Keystone would also offer a venue for live music gigs, a monthly street food market, film screenings, supper clubs, theatre productions, art exhibitions plus ‘any other events the community or local Manchester artists want to make happen’, say the organisers. To secure ticket to the Shebeen Festival and to help launch Keystone, funds can be pledged through the Kickstarter page below.
