This April, the renowned Elysium Theatre Company return to Lowry with The Moth, a powerful and grippingly taut thriller that explores the power of our actions, the echoes of history and the limits of forgiveness.

Based on the company’s award-winning short monologue made as part of a film series during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has since been watched around the world, Paul Herzberg’s compelling adaptation captures a chance meeting between two men in 1994. John, a black British activist and journalist and Marius, a white South African ex-soldier, cross paths on a train, igniting a sequence of seismic events that will shape their lives in unimaginable ways. Twenty-five years later, the pair reunite to share their story.

Following their celebrated 50th anniversary production of The Island last year, Elysium take to the Lowry stage once again with a raw, intimate new drama that reckons with war, race, trauma, humanity and the quest for redemption.
