IWM North hosts the first major exhibition of its unrivalled contemporary art collection in October as it gathers together the work of leading artists based on war and conflict in the media age. Featuring a range of approaches from the likes of Steve McQueen, Kennard Phillips (Photo Op, pictured), Langlands & Bell, Edmund Clark, Paul Seawright, Ori Gersht, Miroslaw Balka and Jananne Al Ani, Catalyst explores the complex subject through a combination of photography, film, sculpture, oil paintings, prints and book works reflecting upon numerous issues on the subject. From the moving to the philosophical to the humorous to the outraged, see how art and the media can contribute to the way we perceive conflict, its impact and its long-term implications.
