The BBC’s biggest ever children’s event comes to Liverpool in early August. The CBBC Summer Social, which takes place over three days in Croxteth Country Park, is packed with performances and activities. Appearances are planned from many CBBC stars including Hacker T Dog, Sam and Mark, Naomi Wilkinson, and Ben Shires. For something more cultured, the organisers have teamed up with Northern Ballet, who delve into Hans Christian Anderson’s The Ugly Duckling for workshops and inspiration. Newly-added attractions include Awesome Authors, in which noted writers – including local boy made good Frank Cottrell-Boyce – encourage children to read and create their own stories. For the younger fans, CBeebies’ favourite Mr Tumble is scheduled to appear, alongside the stars of Swashbuckle, and Andy Day – who is known for his animal and natural history shows. Visitors will also be able to explore the Grade II listed Croxteth Hall, with its petting farm, and Victorian walled garden. For more kids festivals in the region this summer, read our round up.
