This summer, the Science and Industry Museum hosts an action-packed programme of free activities, hands-on fun and even a gleefully gross laboratory for the whole family to enjoy.
From Sat 19 Jul to Sun 31 Aug, the museum will explore the wonders of the human senses with six weeks of free fun inspired by our brilliant bodies, from pots of super-sized snot and disco dancing around a giant brain to optical illusions and live science experiences.
For visitors keen to sniff out the science of smell, the ‘Bogie Lab’ offers an array of sticky surprises including interactive workshops and hands-on crafts where you can create your own ‘Snot in a Pot’ to take home. Little ones can dance around an enormous brain during daily silent discos and discover how our bodies respond to sound, while a brand-new science show unpicks head-scratching optical and audio illusions.
Elsewhere, add a ticket to the the sense-sational blockbuster exhibition Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You and take a trip through Dr. Chris’ colossal cranium. Squeeze through an ear canal covered in gooey wax before exploring interactive rooms dedicated to each of our senses, then don your own bogie hat and get sneezed out of a giant nose. A live appearance from Dr. Xand, presenter of the hit BBC series Operation Ouch!, is set to be announced soon.
Power Up welcomes kids and grown-ups alike to test their sensory skills on more than 150 different video game consoles, loaded with some of the best titles from across fifty years of digital evolution. Book a day pass for £8 or play all year long with an annual pass for £15.
Challenge your hand-eye coordination and rock out with Guitar Hero, immerse yourself in mesmerising new world with advanced VR headsets and groove to music with Just Dance on the big screen.
