A new exhibition launches at Manchester Craft & Design Centre on Saturday, to celebrate 30 years of the organisation’s existence. Crafting History features work by over 30 of the centre’s residents – with their pieces being auctioned off at a special event at the end of exhibition in November. The project is the culmination of Collecting History, which since April has been gathering tales and memories related to the centre. On Saturday afternoon (2pm – 4pm), BA Embroidery students from MMU will be leading an embroidery workshop and an installation exploring the connection between mathematics and embroidery, as well as a series of listening posts around the centre. In the event (6.30pm – 8.30pm – booking required), the sampler-cultureclash collective (David Littler, Jason Singh,Yusra Warsama, Berit Greinke and guests) will be giving specially commissioned live sound performances.

Sat 14 Jul (exhibition continues to November), Manchester Craft & Design Centre, 17 Oak Street, M4 5JD, Tel: 0161 832 4274, FREE – book for the evening event through samplercultureclash-es2.eventbrite.com, www.craftanddesign.com
