This March, Lowry and Milap present an evocative contemporary dance double-bill from two South Asian artists whose work blends classical forms, live music and intimate storytelling.
Bringing together Just Enough Madness by Payal Ramchandani and Caught Again in the Net of Rebirth by Chandenie Gobardhan, the evening pairs two distinct yet resonant works that interrogate identity, memory, bodies and the celestial rhythms of existence.

In the solo Just Enough Madness, Ramchandani confronts the silence surrounding motherhood, miscarriage and postpartum experience. Performed in the South Indian classical dance form Kuchipudi, the work weaves movement with poetic text and ritual imagery, accompanied by live musicians on percussion, flute and voice. The result is a deeply personal dance-theatre piece that examines the messy collision between the expectations of joy around motherhood and the complicated truths of the body.

Then, Caught Again in the Net of Rebirth sees rising artist Gobardhan join four dancers to explore the concept of Trimurti, the cosmic cycle of creation, preservation and destruction. Drawing from Bharatanatyam alongside street and contemporary dance styles, the work unfolds through detailed scenes that evoke ancestral memory and meditative expressions of transformation.
Together, these two works offer a poignant, captivating evening of movement and sound through a contemporary South Asian lens.
