The Lowry’s big summer children’s theatre show is What the Ladybird Heard, a musical based on the best-selling picture book by Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks. Two crooks have a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow, but they reckon without the tiniest, quietest, and smartest creature of all: the Ladybird. She leads the other animals as they work together to foil the robbers’ plans. The 55-minute-long performance features original songs played live, lots of audience participation and puppetry to bring the animal characters to life. The show has received strong reviews from The Guardian, The Stage, and the all-important Netmums. It’s recommended for ages three and above, but babes in arms are permitted. There will be one relaxed, one audio described, and one BSL performance.
