Get ready for Chinese New Year on Friday 16 February, which will commence the year of the dog. You’ve got to head over to Chinatown for that evening. Once the parade leaves Piccadilly gardens, it ventures back to its home turf, where the dragon visits all the restaurants and has to be beaten out by the owner of the establishment. It’s a display not to be missed. Our choices for the eve: Han Dynasty, Siam Smiles, Happy Seasons or Red Chili. With the number of restaurants in Chinatown, you’re never short of foodie things to do. The Sunday is the true show stopper though with festivities kicking off at 12pm in Albert Square with a 175ft dragon that will make its way through the city completed with a breathtaking fireworks display in Chinatown at 6pm.
