Chorlton Arts Festival takes place this May – and will this year feature an innovative new theatrical project. Theatre Exterior will be a series of plays in site-specific locations, with possible venues including barbers’ shops and bookstores. The headline production will be performed on a Metrolink tram as it travels on the newly opened Chorlton to Manchester Airport line. Produced by the award-winning theatre company Shred, the play will explore the importance of making strong connections with the people who live alongside us. The event is in association with Transport for Greater Manchester, a partnership that last year saw a tram be converted into a mobile music venue. All Theatre Exterior events will be free of charge, but booking is required. The rest of the festival will include over 100 events taking place in venues across Chorlton, with many different themes, including music, visual arts, theatre and comedy.
