Some brave homeowners will soon be throwing open their gates to the public for the Chorlton Open Gardens event. This one-day celebration of urban greenspaces returns in June, for this its fourth outing. Over 20 residential gardens will be open for visitors’ perusal, to gain inspiration and insight into how to create beautiful, wildlife-friendly outdoor spaces. Also open to visit will be an allotment, two community gardens, a roof garden, and a nursery (presumably of the plant variety). In addition expect refreshments, pottery and plant sales and live music dotted around the event. To gain entry to the sites, you will need a programme, and these will be on sale from the end of this month at several locations in Chorlton. Please see the Facebook page below for details. All monies raised will go to the charity Freedom From Torture. Last year’s event raised over £8,000.
