Drive-ins are quite often seen as an iconic American past-time – but this Christmas the Manchester Magical Drive In Movie Spectacular is bringing the world’s largest LED screen (measuring 100m square and costing £1.2million, to be precise) to Old Trafford for some festive film viewing. No Scrooges are welcome- Christmas fancy dress is encouraged and there will be live appearances from popular children’s characters. Classics such as Die Hard, Home Alone and The Nightmare Before Christmas plus some newcomers are on the bill – plus a Frozen sing-along – and punters have the option to bring their own in-car picnic (no booze), though refreshments will be available in their street food market. Sink into the comforts of your mobile seating, tune your radio into Santa FM (where the film’s sound will be broadcasted from) and embrace the joyous season.

Fri 19 – Wed 24 Dec, Manchester United Football Club, Old Trafford, M16 0RA, Various times, £26 per car, www.christmasmovies.co.uk
