Festive fun: Christmas markets are set to return for 2021 with a winter wonderland
Is it time to mention the C word yet? No, not the one that’s blighted the past 18 months for us all: the other one. It’s just been announced that after a year away in the North Pole (or elsewhere) the Christmas markets will return this year from 12 November until 22 December. The usual Albert Square venue is out of the picture because of ongoing construction works, but the event will take place across nine microsites including Exchange Square and Cathedral Gardens, and there are plans for a ‘winter wonderland’ at Piccadilly Gardens.
It’s all going to feel a little different to usual, with designated entrances and exits and crowd control, but that should make for a safe, pleasant shopping, eating and drinking experience. Further details are still to be announced, but one thing’s for sure: we’ll be there, and so will almost everybody else in the North West!
Fri 12 Nov - Wed 22 Dec, City centre, various venues
