Yes, it’s getting close to that time of year again. Starting in mid-November, Manchester will be taking on a continental feel as the Christmas markets roll back into town. There will be over 300 stalls showcasing an eclectic bunch of sellers, both local and from around Europe. The markets are famous for their food, and specialities include bratwurst, paella and the somewhat disconcerting hog roasts. Vegetarian options are available… occasionally. The hub, as ever, is outside the Town Hall and you’ll find stalls throughout the streets and squares of the city centre (see the full list, below). Don’t forget Brazennose Street, between the town hall and Deansgate, which is often overlooked, but generally has some of the best places for both food and gifts. With bars open until 9pm at all sites, the markets are the perfect place to socialise after work over some Bavarian beer or glühwein.
