The Manchester Craft and Design Centre is one of the Northern Quarter’s hidden gems. It must be good because Guy Garvey, the nicest man in rock, is its official patron. Later this month, the centre is hosting a Christmas shopping launch event, which will showcase its 18 boutique shops. The resident designers will all be on hand to present their unique, handmade products which are sure to make for excellent Christmas presents. And to entertain you as you shop, the Northern Quarter Boys Choir – self-styled ‘hairy, beer-drinking songsters’ – will be performing a carol concert. Plus MCDC’s own eatery, the Oak Street Café, will be serving seasonal specials, and there will be complimentary mulled wine and mince pies. Whether you’re a regular patron or a newcomer, this is sure to be an enjoyable afternoon.
