The foodie in your life can be a tricky customer when it comes to Christmas shopping. Lucky then that Manchester has it’s own little corner of Catalunya right on Deansgate in Lunya’s Deli where you’ll find world-class wines, chocolates, cheeses, hams and more – all sourced from the best suppliers in Spain. Highlights include possibly the best chocolate in the world; Albert Adrià Vicens Turron. This is incredibly rich, chocolate-covered nougat created by the famous El Bulli chef Albert Adrià and steeped in thrillingly grown up flavours  – think Red Wine, Gin ‘n’ Tonic and Mojito. Priced between £7.50 and £12.95 for up to 300g, we tried the raspberry and balsamic vinegar edition, and we’re still coming down. For those that fancy themselves a carnicero (carving expert), a Rodriguez Reserva Serrano Ham (£22.95 for a mini carving set, £89 for a whole leg, stand and knife, or £75 for the whole leg) is an authentic gift. Festive hampers are another thing; pack yours with a mix of  charcuterie, cheese, beer, artisanal gin, plus Vilarnau Gaudi sparkling wine gift pack (£34 for two Vilarnau flutes, and a one-off bottle with a Gaudi inspired design) or Badajoz acorn gin (£27.95) to be sampled. You’ll almost certainly be picking something up for yourself too. Fancy something more substantial? Lunya is currently offering a festive banquet (£25) for more than 12 sharable courses.
