This September, three world-renowned performers join forces to present How A Spiral Works, an arresting contemporary circus performance that threads together aerial virtuosity, Baltic folk traditions and the timeless, profoundly resonant question of how we care for ourselves and each other in turbulent times.

Conceived by renowned British circus director Jason Dupree, acclaimed Latvian choreographer Alise Bokaldere, and the spellbinding Lithuanian aerialist Izabele Kuzelyte, the mesmeric, multifarious work combines hair hanging, aerial rope sequences and modern dance to produce a hypnotic physical meditation on tension, connection and resilience.

Equal parts tender and precise, How A Spiral Works explores the importance of carving out time and space for care under strain, and the triumph of kinship when bodies unite in evolution.

How a Spiral Works had its UK premier at Jacksons Lane in 2025 to an enraptured sold-out audience. The hypnotic, almost zen-like circus and choreography had the audience gripped from start to finish. An absolute highlight of our first 50th anniversary season.” – Adrian Berry, Jacksons Lane
