From having garnered accolades for Little Shop of Horrors, director Derek Bond returns to the Royal Exchange this Christmas with a Tony-nominated Broadway classic. Directed by Bond, Sweet Charity is choreographed by Aletta Collins who has worked in prestigious settings from the National Theatre to the Royal Opera House and was also awarded the Best Choreographer at the 2012 Music Video Awards. The musical transports audiences to New York and tells the story of hapless romantic and taxi dancer, Charity Hope Valentine. Despite being chronically let down in love and working a job with no prospects, Charity never flails in her hope to find love. Audiences will immediately recognise classics such as Rhythm of Life, Big Spender, and If My Friends Could See Me Now as they follow her trials and tribulations in love and her unwavering optimism in the future.
